Hero Background
Testing the Future

Electric Vehicles

The Electrification Market is continually evolving, and you need a supplier that is nibble, flexible, and has a full system understanding of electric vehicles; D&V Electronics is that test system manufacturer.

D&V Electronics portfolio of EV and Hybrid testing systems is not limited to dynamometer or test benches but covers the entire EV and Hybrid powertrain in systems scope and from R&D to Production in lifecycle.

All our EV products recirculate power on the DC bus instead of taking it back to AC of the facility. This reduces expenses in both capital and operating; as AC power is only required to make up for the efficiency of the unit under test.

Emulators

Our EME products start a customer off with the ability to test inverters without having a physical motor, reducing R&D time. Our DCE line complements the EME allowing you to test with increased power, but you also have the ability to use the DCE to simulate the DC bus of a vehicle, not only the testing inverter but other high voltage components.

Inverter Test Systems (ITS)

D&V has two different solutions for your Inverter or Power Electronics testing needs. For laboratory we use our emulator products and will build you a system that can be used for performance, functional, controls development, calibration, and even include environmental testing with option chamber. Our solution allows PHIL – Power-Hardware-In-The-Loop which enables full power testing without being in vehicle and without real vehicle components. For production or pilot builds D&V uses our RL-load to dissipate the power of the Inverter or Power Electronics module under test which is a more cost-effective approach when a customer is looking at just functional tests to determine if a product meets the specifications.

Electric Motor Testing (EPT)

D&V’s patented and unique Dual Motor Test System is a first for industry. This system allows one test bench that can be varied in terms of speed or torque allowing a customer to test various E-motors.

By using two smaller motors instead of large motor, a customer will have reduced delivery time, and expense. In terms of technology and performance, a dual system allows simplified dyno motor control from 0-6000 RPM and by using the belt, pully, and spindle to change ratios, allow speeds up to 30,000 RPM for the E-motor under test. The concentricity between the E-motor under test and dyno system is vastly better as it only requires lining up the spindle and not a large dyno motor.

Electric Axle Testing (EXL)

Our EXL uses the same basic hardware from laboratory to production as D&V understand that with the reduced noise of an EV versus ICE powertrain that NVH is now more critical. D&V not only has internal NVH expertise, but we have worked with all major third party NVH suppliers to integrate their software into our systems. With an EXL systems having the hardware to test full E-axles and its modular design with DVPro software, it also allows for unique configuration. An EXL system can be configured to test Inverters, and/or E-motor, on the same EXL machine.

Hybrid and Mild-Hybrid (BSG)

Hybrid vehicles come in many configurations and D&V has a product to suit your needs. Our Emulator, EPT, and EXL line test systems provide testing solutions for P1 to P4, but we also have our BSG line for a P0 powertrain configuration. Based off our extensive knowledge of alternator testing and with our expertise of the CAN bus, we can implement testing of a known BSG or help you reverse engineering on unknown CAN protocol.
